News / Minden News #28: Grenadier Company - NCO Applications
« on: October 02, 2018, 06:34:23 pm »

Issue #28: Show Your Merit! [Update!]

Grenadiers - The Regiment's Finest! We open this week's Minden News with a special feature on an upcoming structural change within the regiment: The Grenadier Company will soon be established! With this, we plan to reward those of you who show the greatest skill and dedication. Thus, being accepted into this company will not happen automatically, as it does with King's and Queen's upon reaching the rank of Private. There will be a finite number (TBD) of spots in this company to emphasize the exclusiveness of this group. The rank of Grenadier (formerly Guardsman) can only be earned by being an enlisted member of Grenadier Company. This means that the highest enlisted rank for those outside of the Grenadiers will still be Fusilier.
Speaking of King's and Queen's Company - As much as we hate to disappoint the patriots among you, these two companies will be merged into Centre Company.
Do stay tuned as we plan to establish and open up Grenadier Company alongside the Melee Overhaul. Melee combat will be the primary skill we expect our Grenadiers to excel at and as such, we want the actual game mechanics to be as stable as possible to allow for accurate skill-based evaluation! Lastly, please note that the rank of Grenadier and with it a spot in Grenadier Company will, unlike other ranks, not be achieved and thereafter held indefinitely. We reserve the option to remove inactive Grenadiers and place them back into Centre Company so someone else may occupy their spot. Further details will follow!

NCO Applications to open up again! We always look for talent within the regiment. Just like we plan to reward extraordinary skill in melee and high activity with a prestigious spot in the upcoming Grenadier Company, we also offer up roles as Non-Commissioned Officers for those of you with knack for organisation or the skills to lead on the battlefield. NCOs are an invaluable asset to our officer corps and help out in many different ways. Maybe YOU can help the regiment as well?
Soon, we will reopen the NCO Application Thread and give members ranked Regular or above the opportunity to become part of our NCO programme. Check the thread for all the details! We will provide you with the starting date as soon as we have one.
UPDATE! NCO Applications are now OPEN! Apply here! Do so by the 15th of October to be considered. Further details will follow after the deadline.

To end this issue with, we would like to remind you that development of Holdfast is still going on, but much of it happens behind the scenes. Those of you who would like to get involved in testing new builds, features and such should let us know. Thank you for reading another issue of the Minden News™, YOUR official and reliable source of anything 51st!

Check out this week's events!

Issue #26: Don't I look great in black?

Prussia Trailer! You heard that right, Prussia is finally arriving! To share this grand bit of news with the rest of the world, Anvil Game Studios plan to release a trailer and you could be a part of it! The shooting is to take place tomorrow (Wednesday) at 21:00 CEST and will require an impressive amount of extras. The devs have asked for our help and would like to borrow our time for this, so if you think yourself photogenic and would like a chance to star in the game's official promotional material, be there tomorrow! Further announcements will be made via Steam and on Teamspeak. Of course, this also means that the 0.14 Beta continues to progress in development and the spanking new faction will join the fray sooner rather than later. Good times!

Buying some Cigarettes! Also, an announcement on our own behalf: We here at the Minden News managed to publish a great total of 26 issues as of today and for this we would like to once again thank you for reading our content! However, the frequency of new issues will decrease from now on, meaning there may not be a new issue each week. This is partly due to the lack of newsworthy content and because yours truly will be taking a short leave of absence. We will continue to report important developments as they reach us. Until we can return to our regular release schedule, we invite you to become intern journalists yourselves and share your freshest news with the rest of the community.

Events will of course happen as usual, starting with the filming for the trailer, hosted and moderated by the developers, on Wednesday at 21:00 CEST. Be sure to look your best and smile for the cameras. Our regular events for this week are on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 20:00 CEST. You can expect further Beta testing with the newest content. We would be repeating ourselves if we thanked you for your attention yet again, so instead let us take this moment to collectively pat ourselves on the backs. Go, us! Until the next issue of the Minden News™, we hope you have a great time and we will see you then!

News / Minden News #25: More Beta Tests - Holdfast Conquest League
« on: June 05, 2018, 11:35:31 pm »

Issue #25: The Beta's Beta!

Knock knock! Who's there? Why, it's more content for the version 0.14 Beta! For our Thursday Event this week at 20:00 CEST, we will have the chance to test the next batch of content. Destructible doors and uniquely named ships will make an appearance for a good old Coastal Siege! No longer will you need to guess which ship has the rest of your crew on it. Be sure to join in and get a first look at the new stuff.

Going Pro! You may remember the Holdfast Conquest League (HCL), a competitive 12 vs 12 "mini conquest" that focuses on individual skill with no artillery permitted and only one officer plus 11 regular bayonet infantry. The North American community already kicked this event off with a few pre-season matches, now the EU portion has also entered registrations! While we will do our best to collaborate with the host, we are still awaiting further information as to whether or not we will field an official, all-51st team. Regardless of whether or not this will be organised by the officers, you can already check out all the details HERE on the Holdfast forums. We previously asked you to voice your interest and potentially sign up, if you have not yet done so or would like to check out who has signed up so far, check out our thread here. Do stay tuned, we will give you further information as soon as it reaches us.

As for events this week, they are on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 20:00 CEST. The Thursday Event will be a Coastal Siege with some spicy new beta content. Thank you very much indeed for reading another issue of the Minden News™. We will see you on the battlefield!

News / Minden News #24: New Engine - Beta Access
« on: May 29, 2018, 08:17:49 pm »

Issue #24: The Test Gates Stand Open!

The Beta is here! All of you now have the chance to try out the new version 0.14 before it goes live! The Beta version of this patch features little of the upcoming content, but more significantly the new game engine Unity 2017. As we elaborated in past issues, this engine will allow the developers to delve much deeper into their code to tweak and adjust the game's most sensitive mechanics, at its forefront the oft criticised melee combat. But not all the current changes are invisible, as you can now check out two new maps: Linburg and Black Forest! The not yet fully functional overhauled spawn menu has also already made it into the game. A well-designed UI is a crucial part of any game and often goes unappreciated, so we are happy to see further work put into this.

Where my Prussians at? Prussia is still being developed and have not yet made their debut in the game. The current beta of version 0.14 should be understood as the foundation upon which the more significant changes and additions will be built on. We hope the engine transition went smoothly did not unearth a hive of new bugs. The successful implementation of the new faction and the much anticipated melee overhaul may well be directly tied to the game's success and longevity, but for now we must all simply be patient.

How do I opt in? Like with previous betas, simply right click your game in your Steam library, select Properties and navigate to the BETAS tab. Here, select Beta - from the dropdown menu and close the window. A download of about 2.5 GB should kick in and your game will have the [beta] tag.

As per usual, we have events on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 20:00 CEST. Any changes to the events or alternate times will be announced by our Steam group. Again, we thank you for reading this week's issue of the Minden News™. Hopefully, we can soon provide you with even more information regarding the upcoming content for the game. Until then, check out the most current dev blog to read all about this beta in greater detail!

News / Minden News #23: Update News - Sunday Linebattle Feedback
« on: May 22, 2018, 01:31:05 pm »

Issue #23: What's New, Prussiacat?

Finishing Touches! Last Sunday brought us another dev blog post by the developers. Most notably, this article reveals the release date for the upcoming beta version of the new update: Next week! Get ready, because we will of course be part of the testing. Other than that, there is little in the way of brand new stuff and more of the old 'We are still working hard on everything', but a few snippets of previously unknown can be extracted. For one, a look one of the more colourful prussian regiments - The Riflemen (likely Silesian jaegers)! Also, further details about destruction and interactables. Doors will soon be able to open and close, as well as be smashed down by melee attacks (once out of beta). For siege-type game modes, some doors may only be opened if your faction controls the nearby capture point. We may also still look forward to a variety of new maps across multiple game modes.
Check out the entire post here!

Sunday Feedback As we first mentioned a few weeks back, we currently participate in a community-hosted event for our Sunday Linebattles as opposed to hosting it ourselves. We can unfortunately not give you further information regarding the permanency of this circumstance, but for however long this should last, we may as well make the most of it. To this end, we kindly ask for your feedback on the current rule set. Please post your suggestions, gripes or any sort of comment in this thread by Jamster. Let us do our best to try and help improve this event not just for ourselves, but for all the participants!

And these are your events for this week: Tuesday Training is TONIGHT at 20:00 CEST. The Thursday Event is at 20:00 CEST. We may be forming a skirmisher detachment for the Friday Spanish Linebattle, keep your eyes on our Steam announcements for this. The Saturday Public Linebattle is at 20:00 CEST and the Sunday Linebattle happens at 20:00 CEST. Your faithful Minden News™ staff bids you adieu for another week. Leave your thoughts below and then kindly head over to the Sunday feedback thread!

Issue #22: With a Musket on his Shoulder and Roses in his Hair

History Lesson! Whether you have been with us for a long time of you only recently joined up, you may or may not have heard little bits of history about the actual British regiment we chose to be our namesake. One name you will hear being mentioned a lot is Minden, though this is not a name but rather a city. A humble city at that, with just over 80.000 inhabitants and situated west of Hanover, Germany. In 1759 however, its outskirts became a battlefield for one of the most decisive clashes of the Seven Years' War. This war saw the alliance of Great Britain, including Portugal, Prussia and Hanover fight against the then Kingdom of France under Louis XV, with Austria, Russia, Spain and Sweden on their side. Like many other wars involving European great powers, the Seven Years' War was caused by rising tensions over territorial claims and the following cascade of alliances. Much of this would later be mirrored in the Napoleonic Wars. Come, and stay for a while we tell you the Story of Minden.
The Battle of Minden took place during the height of this conflict, following a repeated back-and-forth struggle for Hanover. The engagement ended in a victory for Great Britain and their German allies, which was a surprising result for all sides. Outnumbered in manpower and faced with the formidable threat of the French cavalry on the open field, Team Anglo-Germany had to be cautious. Indeed, the French made good use of their cavalry, launching it into continuous charges while protecting it in the crossfire of their own artillery.
The battle was not going well for the Brits and they signaled for retreat, though this order was famously mistaken for a fire and advance straight into the French horsemen. The British brigade, including the 51st marched onward, not fazed by musket or cannon fire, pausing only to deliver volleys of their own. The fact that morale did not break despite the fierce barrage took the French by surprise and caused them to rout from the battlefield. The iron will and guts displayed by the regiments who were part of the fearless advance immortalised them within history. After the battle, they took the title of Minden to commemorate their valour.
Minden Day is celebrated by the successors of these historical regiments to this day, every year on August 1st - The day of the Battle of Minden. Soldiers wear roses in their hats to pay homage to the soldiers who picked roses in the Dutch and German lowlands that reminded them of home and wore them on their shakos, or so the story goes.

Well, after that trip to memory lane, let us take a look at this week's going-ons. As per usual, we have events on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 20:00 CEST, with possibly further regional events such as the Friday Linebattle. Make sure you are part of our Steam Community group, where you will receive timely notifications on any and all events happening! Thank you very much indeed for reading another issue of the Minden News™, this time with fewer news and more educational content! If you would like to hear the Minden tale retold authentically, just ask Stalker for story time!

News / Minden News #21: Big Update - Prussia
« on: May 08, 2018, 05:12:56 pm »

Anticipation Kills! On May 6th, another Holdfast dev blog went live, filled to the brim with exciting new content for the upcoming patch. The upgraded game engine will allow for greater flexibility when tweaking highly sensitive mechanics such as the melee combat. Making sure that melee is much more responsive and intuitive still remains a top priority for the developers. While progress on the latest and upcoming patches has been slow, this allows the developers to include a variety of content with each patch, as opposed to releasing diminutive tweaks on a weekly basis. Other things you can look forward to include a sleek UI overhaul including the new spawn screen, which will eventually allow you to customise your soldier's loadout to some degree. Multiple new maps will soon be playable and these will include a variety of brand new assets - Buildings, landmarks and such. And speaking of buildings, more destruction will be possible, too. Much like the breaching points of the coastal fortifications, other buildings on different game modes are said to eventually be destructible, at least partially.
Lastly, the Prussians will be making their debut on the battlefields of Holdfast! While they are (literally) not the most colourful of factions, they will be sure to bring some much needed variety into the game and will, most assuredly, make us hungry for even more factions to be added in the future. Check out the details of all the new content in the dev blog!
As of yet, we cannot give you any specific date for when the update will go live, but like before you can expect a beta test of the new balance changes to take place. We will of course be participating in this as best we can.

Sunday Reflections. Many of us felt some slight disappointment after participating in last week's Sunday Linebattle. We already addressed some of your concerns immediately after the event, but we would like to give a brief statement on our opinions. We realise that this event was certainly not the best showcase for us performance-wise. This was to no fault of any of you. Individually, you did well and for the most part, executed commands in the professional manner we have become accustomed to. What made last week different from our usual Sunday events was the low amount of sign-ups by other events, forcing us to instead participate in a different event. This presented us with some unplanned difficulties - A high ping and a rule set quite different to what we are used to. Needless to say, we will do our best to ensure that the events going forward are as enjoyable for you as they have been before, but we do depend largely on the rest of the community for this.

Reminding you to not miss tonight's Tuesday Training at 20:00 CEST. The Thursday Event, or alternatively the Thursday Training is at 20:00 CEST. The Saturday Public Linebattle is at 20:00 CEST and the Sunday Linebattle happens at 20:00 CEST. This has been this week's issue of the Minden News™, straight from the press! Let us know which faction you are looking forward to the most after Prussia!

News / Minden News #20: May Special Edition

Issue #20: Happy 20th and Happy 1st!

May Day! Rejoice! Not only are we celebrating the 20th issue of the Minden News™, it is also the first of May. More commonly known as 'Labour Day', this is a holiday for most of the world, regardless of culture or religion. The first of May is one of two Christian feasting days honouring St Joseph the Worker, also known as Jesus' legal daddy. Communist activists of the late 19th century used the occasion to push for better working conditions and now, almost every country imaginable gives its workers a day off.
For much of Europe, the first of May holds further significance, reaching back much farther than workers' unions or even Christianity. It was traditionally the first day of summer which for Celtic, Gaelic and Germanic pagans was reason enough to party hard in order to finally drive out the winter (and evil spirits, while they were at it). Even following the Christianisation of Europe, much of the holiday's spiritual roots can still be found in the many ways people celebrate it to this day. Many countries light bonfires, erect may poles and dance throughout the night of April 30th. Others share baskets of sweets with their neighbours or give to the poor. Almost all get well and truly smashed. So, whether you are celebrating Labour Day, Walpurgis Night, Beltane or however you should call it, we hope you have a great day. Unless you're British, of course, in which case you will get your bank holiday next Monday because screw traditions.

To the Water Park! Rather, to the war-torn, hostile and violent version of a water park - Coastal Siege! This Thursday at 20:00 CEST, we will once again take part in an event, following our naval success of last week's sea battle.

Commendation! We would like to offer our belated congratulations to Private BurdTurgerler, the newest recipient of the Cross of Valour, 3rd Class! We were impressed by your performance during the Sunday Linebattle from two weeks past and if you impress us, we award you virtual medals. Everybody wins! But in all honesty, well done and keep it up.

Here are the upcoming events for this week: Tonight at 20:00 CEST, join us for Tuesday Training. The Thursday Event this week will be a Coastal Siege and happens at 20:00 CEST. The Saturday Public Linebattle is at 20:00 CEST and the Sunday Linebattle happens at 20:00 CEST. We hope you enjoyed the little excursion into the origins of the May Day celebrations. What cooky traditions do people observe where you're from? Let us know!

Issue #19: Staying Afloat

Get Your Sea Legs! There will be a Naval Event this Thursday at 20:00 CEST, the usual training time. It has been a little while since we took to the seas, so we hope this will be a welcome diversion for all of us, especially for the newer members who may not have taken part in any organised naval play. This event will replace the Thursday Training for this week, so be sure to attend tonight's Tuesday Training at 20:00 CEST to brush up on our commands and maneuvers. As for Thursday, remember to pack your swimming trunks and join us for some splashy fun in the sun!

Anvil Insights! This weekend, another Dev Blog went live detailing the contents of the upcoming Holdfast Update. A big emphasis still lies with improvements to the melee combat. To this end, the developers decided it would be best to upgrade the game engine to Unity 2017, allowing for more freedom in fine-tuning the mechanics. This change is also said to improve performance in large scale battles. On top of all this, we can look forward to a redesigned spawning system, along with a more detailed UI - All in preparation for the introduction of Prussia.

Sunday Funday! We hope you were pleased by our performance in the last Sunday Linebattle - We certainly were! It was also great to see more than 50 people in attendance that night, including more than a dozen of our newest recruits. Notably, we managed to achieve victory even in one particular round which saw our team at a 20 man disadvantage! It is always elating to see our training pay off.
Missed the event? Worry not, Ferkison live-streamed it! Why not catch the VOD on his Twitch?

Here are the upcoming events for this week: Tonight at 20:00 CEST, we will host our Tuesday Training. This is the most important event for newer members, as we go through all the commands with you in great depth. The Thursday Event, featuring Naval Play, is at 20:00 CEST. The Saturday Public Linebattle is at 20:00 CEST and the Sunday Linebattle happens at 20:00 CEST. Done! This has been the Minden News™, containing 100% of your recommended weekly dosage for news, hot facts and other regimental happenings! As always, we will see you on the battlefield.

Issue #18: Size Does Matter!

Recruitment Spree! The 51st Regiment continues to grow and we are happy to welcome over 40 new recruits, who have joined us this month alone! Including reserves, our community now consists of almost 300 members! We hope that all the recruits enjoy their time with us and join in on the fun we have in the various events hosted each week. If you only just joined us, we highly recommend attending today's Tuesday Training at 20:00 CEST to familiarise yourself with the commands and maybe learn a thing or two about the game. You can also get a head start on our terminology by reading the Recruit Guide. Of course, us officers and NCOs are always happy to answer any questions you may have.

Social Butterflies! In that same vein, we encourage you to get to know your fellow soldiers outside of the battlefield, too! Things can be a tad chaotic during sizeable events and during active PTS, we appreciate that you do not have the chance to let your personality shine. But, being the active gaming community we are, plenty of folk hang out on Teamspeak outside of events, too. While Holdfast is our definite focus, many other games are being played as well, sometimes without any officers! So, if you hate our guts or would like to discuss the terms of a mutiny with your fellow enlisted members, be sure to join in on the fun. Why not ask about a game you love? Perhaps others share your passion. Let us know what you are into!

On an additional note - If you are aching for more news regarding the Holdfast Conquest League, stay tuned! The NA division is currently working out the rules by running pre-season matches. Two have been played so far. We appreciate the effort put in by our colonial friends and hope to be representing the EU region once the Melee Update has gone live.

As always, here is what you can look forward to this week: Remember tonight's Tuesday Training at 20:00 CEST! The Thursday Training is at 20:00 CEST. The Saturday Public Linebattle is at 20:00 CEST and the Sunday Linebattle happens at 20:00 CEST. We thank you for tuning in to the Minden News™, coming to you every Tuesday! See you on the battlefield, soldiers.

« on: April 10, 2018, 09:14:06 pm »

Issue #17: Shape Your Game!

Scheduling Changes! Effective immediately, the Friday NA Training & Event are cancelled. While the linebattle will doubtless still take place as we are not the ones hosting it, we will not be attending it as a regiment anymore until further notice. The overall attendance of the event was poor and linebattles with rules as strict as the ones we abide by are not quite as much fun with lines consisting only of a handful of people. Furthermore, we are bringing back Thursday Trainings and Events! After many of you have voiced your desire for this particular time slot to be filled up again, there will now be trainings and, depending on turnout, events hosted on Thursdays again! These will take place at the same time our other regular events happen - 20:00 CEST

Conquest of Nations Now that the latest update to the game has had a chance to establish itself, the developers want your feedback! Following last Sunday's Conquest Event, we have started a thread to gather our collective opinions and suggestions on how to further improve the new game mode. Join the discussion here!

e-Sports are Sports Too! The newly dubbed Holdfast Conquest League (HCL) for North America has opened up pre-season registrations. This means that teams will be able to compete before the actual season starts, which is scheduled to happen with the upcoming Melee Update. The rule set was changed slightly, too, as now each team will consist of 12 players as opposed to 6. If you would like to know more about the event or even sign up for it, head over to the official forums!
As for the EU version of the event, we still would like to encourage you to sign up here, as there is a possibility of the 12-man-teams being adopted as well. The EU season will also happen after the Melee Update, which according to our latest intel will be the very next update. We will continue to update you with any further development.

Time for your weekly event schedule: Remember that the Friday Event is cancelled and that there will instead be a Thursday Training at 20:00 CEST. The Saturday Public Linebattle is at 20:00 CEST and the Sunday Linebattle happens at 20:00 CEST. This has been your weekly dose of the Minden News™! We will see you on the battlefield.

Issue #16: The Update Cometh

From Anvil with Love! We will let the developers start this week's issue in their own words:

Holdfast: Nations At War has been updated. The much-requested objective based game mode is here! Co-ordinate assaults, capture and hold objectives to become victorious in the brand-new Army Conquest mode.

You heard right - After multiple weeks of teasing and a short delay due to further fine-tuning required, the Conquest Update has finally come! At its core stands the eponymous Army Conquest game mode, in which both teams must vie for control of multiple capture points on the map and hold them for as long as they can to accumulate points. As opposed to giving both teams unlimited respawns or fix the amount of tickets they receive at the start of a round, the team that is either controlling more points or racking up more kills will receive more tickets, thus further increasing their advantage. In this sense, Conquest plays out a little more fairly than it did in the first few beta tests. Gathering momentum is now a valid strategy to ensure victory. If you would like to try out these game modes on your own then head over to the new official servers have gone online. Join 'Anvil Game Studios Official EU2 - Army Conquest' or 'Anvil Game Studios Official NA 2 - Army Conquest' at your leisure!
Further changes include tweaks to the capture points in the various siege game modes, as well as the new map Fort Winston. The much anticipated balancing of the melee combat remains a high priority and we should soon have further news on this for you. Likewise, Prussia inches ever closer to its completion and should liven up the battlefield when it makes its grand debut. Read all about the latest update here!

Big Leagues! First plans are being forged for a competitive 6v6 tournament inspired by the Battlegrounds League back in BG2. Naturally, the 51st will be involved - Potentially as the host! All of you will have the opportunity to take part. Simply reply to this thread by Sunday and we can start planning out a theoretical roster. Note that, depending on interest, we have the opportunity to field multiple teams as well as have inter-regimental teams. Sign up today! More details can be found here.

Events! Friday's NA Training followed by the NA Linebattle is at 7:30 PM EST/EDT. The Saturday Public Linebattle is at 20:00 CEST and the Sunday Linebattle happens at 20:00 CEST. Done! And what a plethora of news we had for you this week. We hope you are as excited as us for the new content as well as the prospect of more skill-based competitive play. See you on the battlefield!

Issue #15: Moving on Up in this World

First of all, we apologise for the delay. Due to some technical difficulties, this week's Minden News™ comes to you on Wednesday. No time to dawdle, let us get right into it!

You're up! As development on the new game mode continues, more fine-tuning is being done, thanks to the rigorous effort of the community and, of course, our involvement. As many of you have stated, much work was needed before Conquest could go live, which is why the developers have made it a priority to continue running tests and iron our the kinks so the release is as smooth as possible. To this end, there will be another stress test today, Wednesday the 28th at 20:00 CEST. If you have not had the chance to check out the new mode or the new map, join up later tonight for some delightfully chaotic Conquest!

Top Brass! This Tuesday's promotions included some of the more rare variety - Officer promotions! Our Führer Lt. Colonel saw fit to elevate Ensigns Pounder and your's truly to the rank of Lieutenant for exemplary service to the regiment. We here at Minden News™ would like to use this opportunity to thank those of you who go above and beyond to help out the community in the many ways that you do. Pounder specifically has lost many a hair and brain cell to regularly organise and run the official events and, as a regiment, we are fortunate to have not only members who excel on the battlefield, but also a rock-solid administrative staff who make sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.

No Thursday Event is planned for this week, but as always we encourage you to check out the 51st Europa Universalis IV Grand Campaign for all your backstabbing needs.

Tonight's Wednesday Conquest Beta Test will take place at 20:00 CEST - We hope you remembered to change all your clocks to summer time! Friday's NA Training followed by the NA Linebattle is at 7:30 PM EST/EDT. The Saturday Public Linebattle is at 20:00 CEST and the Sunday Linebattle also dubbed "The Big'un" happens at 20:00 CEST. And we are done! Again, we apologise for the delay and hope no angry letters reach our editors about this. Until next week, and see you on the battlefield!

Issue #14: Conquest of Nations

Capture the Flag! Following last week's first trial runs, we will be partaking in further testing of the new Holdfast beta patch! This Wednesday at 19:00 CET, we will once again be taking a look at the objective-based Conquest game mode, so if you missed the last event, be sure to drop in! Due to the nature of this particular event, expect the atmosphere to be a little more lax than usual, all whilst maintaining competitiveness of course. The actual update will go live this week, based on what we know. Let us use this chance to help out the developers by thoroughly stress testing the new content!

As for Thursday, while we have no Holdfast event lined up, we do encourage you to check out the Europa Universalis IV Grand Campaign, which will restart on Thursday at 20:00 CET. Be sure to take a look at the newly released immersion pack Rule Britannia, which focuses on the nation/s of Great Britain and the Industrial Revolution. Who will betray their alliance first? Who will pick the easiest nations? Be sure to reserve your spot early by checking the thread or contacting Pounder or Walki.

To summarise, the Wednesday Conquest Beta Test will happen at 19:00 CET. The quaint NA Training followed by the NA Linebattle is on Friday at 7:30 PM EST/EDT. The Saturday Public linebattle is at 20:00 CET. The Sunday Linebattle, as usual, will take place at 20:00 CET. And that wraps up this week's (short) issue of the Minden News™, your only reliable source of intra-regimental news, we will see you soon!

Issue #13: Straight from the Horse's Mouth

Got an Appetite for News? We may just have the thing for you: We have some hot facts regarding the next update, straight from the developers! After developing regimental/clan functions, the next focal point will be to complete the objective-based game mode we talked about for the past few weeks. And what's more, there will be further fine-tuning of the melee combat - Good news indeed.

This update should go live some time next week, but we will have the opportunity to try out a beta version in this week's Thursday Event! Feature attractions of this testing run will be the aforementioned features including the new game mode, as well as a new map made by Walki! Do not miss this chance to check out the new update before anyone else. As per usual, the Thursday Event will be at 20:00 CET.
Similar to previous betas we have had the privilege to test, this will be an opt-in version of the game, meaning you will receive a password to then gain access to the beta branch via Steam. The password will be given out during the event.

For more teasers and Holdfast-related news, be sure to follow the developers on Twitter. They may even be inclined to respond to questions you always wanted to ask them, or give valuable advise on life and love.

As mentioned, the Thursday Event will be at 20:00 CET. NA Training followed by the NA Linebattle is at 7:30 PM EST/EDT and we do encourage anyone who can make it to show up, even if you are European - While this is past midnight for you, the experience is said to be rather unique. The Saturday Public linebattle is at 20:00 CET. The Sunday Linebattle, as usual, will take place at 20:00 CET. Phew! That's the unlucky #13 out of the way. As always, stay tuned and continue to support the Minden News™! We will see you soon.
